Hi! I’m Jorge Romero, a destination wedding photographer from Guadalajara Mexico, and I have a degree in graphic design. I am passionate about wedding photography, but I especially enjoy destination wedding photography. It is a great pleasure going to new places where I do not know what kind of scenarios I will discover and the challenge to make images that my clients will love. I am like a little kid opening presents on Christmas when I am exploring a new place to do a photoshoot. I say it all the time, I am the luckiest man alive for doing something that I love.

HOW DID YOU GET STARTED IN PHOTOGRAPHY?

I was working as a graphic designer, but in 2009 I started taking portraits for an elementary school as a side job. I got more jobs from other schools and soon I started doing weddings and quinceañeras, but I was not enjoying it, becauseI did not like the kind of photography I was doing. 2012 was the year I went to my first photography conference, where I attended some workshops from photographers that were more artistic and out of the box that helped me to open my eyes to the possibility of making better photos. It was the real beginning of my journey as a photographer. Finally I found a challenge to inspire me to get better.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE?

I like aesthetics, simple composition, nice lighting and try to make creative images with a real moment of the bride and groom.

WHAT DO YOU LOOK FOR IN AN IMAGE?

The first thing I look for is aesthetics, then composition, nice light and a real moment that captures the connection between the couple. I love to capture the little moments where the couple is being themselves.

WHAT INSPIRES OR MOTIVATES YOU?

My inspiration is to keep learning and keep trying new things. I motivate myself trying to be a better person than photographer.

WHAT CHALLENGES YOU?

My internal competition challenges me all the time and I also enjoy a good competition with other photographers. When I see somebody doing a photo that I have not done, I take it like a personal challenge to try to do my own version of the photo. It is like a fuel that keeps me going and makess me think that there are a lot of new things to learn ahead of me.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MOMENT OF A WEDDING?

I love the getting ready and the “day after” photoshoot, or like we like to say in Mexico “trash the dress” session.

OF ALL YOUR IMAGES, DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE ONE?

Yes, I have a favorite. The below image has everything I look for, plus it is a photo of a good friend.

ANYTHING ELSE WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT JORGE?

In general, when people first see me, they think that I am grumpy. But please do not hesitate to say hi, and you will see that I am an easy going guy who enjoys life and making new friends. I like to help others and give back because a lot people helped me when I was first starting in photography. I love my family and friends, and I enjoy sports, but my favorite is basketball. I was raised catholic, but I believed that the intention of your actions determines what occurs in your life, so always choose the right thing.

TELL US ABOUT DVLOP

I had almost seven years editing with my own preset, and I did not want to spend even a dollar buying somebody else’s presets, but I always felt that something was missing on my photos. Finally, I discovered DVLOP and I decided to buy Two Mann Studio’s set to try to emulate their colors. I was amazed with the results. I got more saturated colors, a professional look, and an elegant feeling. The presets are so well designed that I was able to tweak them easily to give my photos my personal touch.
