I am Hendra Lesmana, an Indonesia-based, unorthodox wedding photographer since 2010 and a Nikon Indonesia Official Photographer. I am a very lucky guy as I am enjoying life with my wife and two daughters and lucky enough to be known as an award winning wedding photographer from Fearless Photographers, ISPWP, Junebug, MyWed and many others.

HOW DID YOU GET STARTED IN PHOTOGRAPHY?

That first time was travelling to Bali in 2005 with my best friends. One of them brought a compact camera which had manual mode and captured many things that I had never seen before like light trails and everything. A year later, I bought my first prosumer camera and got my first DSLR (Nikon D90) in 2009. Then I got bored with landscapes, and did macro, models and then tried to shoot an engagement photo with one of the models and her boyfriend.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE?

Unpredictable? Sometimes can be fun and playful or glamour, or emotional, or artistic. I never limit my style. I love all of them, but above all those styes, I have always tried to put some creativity in it. I also don’t believe in repeating my works.

WHAT DO YOU LOOK FOR IN AN IMAGE?

Lights, composition, angle, moments, the idea and creativity.

WHAT INSPIRES OR MOTIVATES YOU?

Every creative and unique thing around me.

To match my work with my clients expectations.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MOMENT OF A WEDDING?

Father and daughter moments. I cry too sometimes :’)

OF ALL YOUR IMAGES, DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE ONE?

Yes I do. The groom being kissed by bride and licked by the horse.

ANYTHING ELSE WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT HENDRA?

I have a unique hobby. I have pet shrimp. Lots of them :D

Definitely! I hate editing. I hate colour toning. It takes so much time. That is why I have always tried to do right from the camera and let DVLOP do the rest! Mostly just one click and it’s done! It’s cheaper than your time!
