We built DVLOP for all of us - the artists, the gearheads, the pros in the trenches, and the weekend warriors. Presets have long been a powerful tool to speed up workflows and to define specific looks. Unfortunately, presets have also been guilty of stifling individual styles and of casting a shadow of monotony over this creative industry.
We have built a new platform from the ground up, the hard way, one camera at a time. We have partnered with some of our favorite unique and stylized photographers from around the world. We have reimagined presets as they should be - a tool that not only speeds up workflows, but one that also spurs creativity.
Let’s begin with a small peek under the hood. For now, we won’t delve into the deep technical side of things, but instead we’ll keep it simple as we introduce DVLOP Dual Illuminant profiles.
These profiles were designed from scratch for superior skin tones, shadows, and smoother color transitions.
We have built two separate profiles for each camera individually, one meant for daylight and one meant for much warmer color temperatures. Both Lightroom and ACR automatically detect each profile and choose the appropriate blend based on where you find yourself on the white balance slider.
As you can see, the DVLOP Dual Illuminant profiles are significantly more accurate across the color spectrum. Not only are our profiles better across the board, but they really shine in mixed lighting.
Gone are the days of having to adjust settings from camera to camera. Our presets automatically detect the camera model used and apply the camera specific profile. These presets achieve the same intended look whether you are shooting Canon or Nikon, Fuji or Sony. This means color accuracy across camera systems and lighting conditions. This means simplicity.
We didn’t build these profiles from files we found on the Internet. We built these in our studio with each camera in hand. The result is a dng database spanning over 70 unique cameras, and we’ll be adding more on a regular basis. This database will allow us to fix inconsistencies we find with frequent updates as our user base broadens.
Each preset pack comes with a variety of presets, and each preset is fine-tuned to work with in-camera auto white balance depending upon the artist’s original intent. These are intelligent presets to make editing life easier. The majority of our presets work perfectly with a quick exposure adjustment. Simple, powerful and smart.
Not being satisfied there, we set a goal to create presets that will intuitively spur creativity. DVLOP preset packs include additional modular components designed to mix and match styles. These modular components naturally encourage exploration and discovery.
