Announcing - Kristen Marie Parker

Washington, USA

Kristen’s a bit sarcastic, a homebody and tends to dance in corners at large gatherings, but that doesn’t stop her inward sense of nurturing and wanting to help others. There’s an inner drive to connect with those around her, seeing them for as they are rather than what others want them to be. Kristen has translated that into her photography, documenting people and their interactions to equal what they represent and showcasing the honesty and quiet moments between people.

Kristen pushes herself to document all different types of light during the day. These presets reflect and emphasize those different types of light. From getting ready to portraits to the reception, Kristen loves having a single look and depending on the time of day and where the sun is, that might change how your files are represented.

Included is Kristen’s favorite direct sunlight and noon time preset as well as a look she uses for her on camera reception shots and even a dusk preset for when you just barely missed your sunset window but kept pressing on and shooting.

I was studying my prerequisites in college to prepare for nursing school applications when I tossed in a few "art of digital photography" classes to soften the blow of full fledged chemistry and anatomy. I had purchased my first digital camera a couple of years before and then inherited my great aunt's film cameras. Her photos would plaster our walls at home and fall out of boxes so I grew up with a very photo journalistic gallery. Perhaps it inspired. I fell into weddings shortly after as my friends began to fall in love and get married. I dipped my toes in landscapes, animal, stylized shoots, etc. and found that two people in love on their happiest day is my niche. I haven't thought about going back to prepare for nursing school in 5 years. I'm always striving and pushing myself to do one step better than the last and connect with others as much as possible. Intention to me is not letting what you've been given go to waste. Don't let empathy, or the draw to connect or the need to pull the good out of people not be made useful. - Kristen
