Announcing - Chrisman Studios

South Carolina, USA

Chrisman Studios began with Ben. Then along came Erin. Then Mauricio. Then Ryan. Together, these four photographers are known for photographs that are emotionally raw, beautifully mysterious, fearlessly sexy, and often downright surreal. Chrisman Studios’ photographers work with complex lighting and composition to show people what they cannot see with their own eyes, whether through multilayered reflections, shooting through abstract objects they find on the scene, or simply through anticipating crucial, fleeting moments before they occur. This mission drives their art, fulfills their souls and satisfies a desire to either restore order, or destroy it.

Look no further for the quintessential Chrisman look. The Chrisman aesthetic centers around rich blacks and bold colors. They shoot for highlights sending less important pieces into the shadows and underexpose to make colors pop. Their intention is to show a moment or environment in a completely different way, bringing a little mystery to an otherwise ordinary scene.

We are Ben, Erin, Mauricio and Ryan of Chrisman Studios, based in Charleston and San Francisco. We have been together now for almost a decade, and love one another as family. Ben and Erin live in Charleston, where we are currently experiencing the high of our life raising our daughter, Roxy. Mauricio spends half his time with his wife and two children in Nicaragua, and the rest of his time traveling the world shooting weddings and teaching photographers. Ryan holds down the fort in San Francisco with his girlfriend Bonnie and their new puppy.

Artistically, we thrive on the energy and unpredictability of weddings. We love when things don’t go as planned, and we love witnessing people simply being who they are. We love the real, we love the weird, and we love the tender, all rolled up into one day that can never be repeated.

We live to create, and to expand someone’s perception of what their memory can be, so that it breathes life into their home though the artwork they helped create by living their life without hesitation. - Chrisman Studios
